Skolgården. En förutsättning för lek?
Abstract
The purpose of the study was to study two different leisure centers and their schoolyards. The
purpose was also to study how the employees were making prerequisites for children to play
in the schoolyard. We also wanted to observe how the children did play and see if there were
any similarities or differences to the schoolyards in what was available for the children in
their schoolyards.
The method that we were using during this study was an ethnographic study with observations
protocol regarding the schoolyards and how the children did play with each other. We also
wanted to make sure that we interviewed the employees to get their view on their schoolyard
and their view on how the children were playing with each other. Our interviews were semi
structured so that we could guide the interview with upcoming questions.
The result of this study showed that the prerequisites were different from each schoolyard.
Schoolyard 1 had less space for each child making it difficult for the employees to fulfill their
objectives and the children had a hard time finding space to where they should play. They
often moved their activities outside the schoolyard to find space for the children to play. The
other schoolyard number 2 did have a larger space for each child in their schoolyard. They
also had a forest included in the schoolyard and more open spaces for the children to play.
