The goal of this project is making a transcription for organ of Florence Price’s third symphony. Focus is placed on faithful representation of the work and for this purpose a study of her organ works, mainly the Suite no. 1 for Organ, is included. Similarities and differences in composition between the organ works and the symphony are also explored. The project places Price’s music in the historical context of her life, as well as itself in the context of the history of organ transcriptions and proposes transcription as a potential canon-expanding practice.sv
