HOPPLÖSHET, FRUSTRATION OCH DRÖMMEN OM ETT BÄTTRE LIV En kvalitativ intervjustudie om unga vuxnas tankar om framtiden i Bosnien-Hercegovina
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyse how a certain group of young and well-educated citizens in
Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, discuss their aspiration to leave the country after they graduate
from the university. The overarching questions are what their driving force is to leave the country
and what do they expect of a life abroad. The material used is semi structured interviews with nine
individuals. The interview is based on three themes; life in Bosnia and Herzegovina, life abroad and
thoughts about the future. The study shows that the majority of the young and well-educated individuals have the wish to leave the country due to the political situation in the country and the possibilities for a better life abroad. The study also shows that the majority of the well-educated
youths don’t want to return to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The loss of the well-educated youths will affect the country’s access to human capital and that will have a long-term negative impact on the
country’s development.
