Attityder gentemot homosexuella inom EU - En kvantitativ studie av attitydförändring mellan 2002 och 2014
Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis is studying the attitudes towards homosexuality in the European Union. The subject of this study will be to enlighten which groups in the European society that holds the most negative attitudes towards homosexuals and how these attitudes have changed over time. The changing attitudes in the EU will show upon an increased polarization between groups and countries, but also on an increased importance of the socio-cultural dimension.
The data used in this bachelor’s thesis comes from the European Social Survey and the question “Gay men and lesbians should be free to live their own life as they wish” will be the dependent variable which is researched. The thesis will execute a linear regression analysis with an altering of the above question as the dependent variable, and then test against different independent variables and draw parallels to the socio-cultural dimension to find out how the changing attitudes towards homosexuals can be seen in the selected countries. The thesis is a comparative case study comparing five European countries and concludes that the socio-cultural dimension has grown in importance regarding the changing attitudes towards homosexuals.
