Abstract
The following remarks on works of Gregory of Nyssa concern the textes of this author which have been published in modern standard editions, in the first place Sources Chrétiennes (SCh) and Gregorii Nysseni Opera (GNO). The first part of this work deals with editions in SCh, the texts of which go back to GNO. I have also in this part taken up Sermones de creatione hominis (Sur l’origine de l’homme) and Sermo de paradiso, attributed to both Basil and Gregory ; only the work on the creation of man is published in SCh. The second part discusses the texts of editions generally only published in GNO and not in SCh. References are made to both series. In the introduction to each work the number which is given in the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae is shown after the title. The remarks deal with texts and the interpretation of certain passages which are of interest for different reasons: the tradition may be insecure or faulty or the passage may have been more or less misunderstood. There are no general conclusions on the style, grammar or philosophical and theo logical views of the author.
