How to be a Successful Project Manager- Managing Challenges in IT Projects

Abstract

IT projects continues to fail in spite of the vast amount of research on failure avoidance in IT projects. The research has identified several areas of challenge that project managers need to be aware of, and some of these studies have also focused on identifying general strategies for how to manage theses challenges. Despite this research, project continues to fail which suggests a gap between theory and practice. By interviewing project management consultants in a Swedish based IT company we aim to bridge this gap by identifying concrete, practical solutions for how to manage these challenges.
