This essay has a focus on female pop artist´s stage language and how it is constructed through different aspect. With video analysis of live performances from Sabrina Carpenter and Zara Larsson I examine the role that clothes, body language, dance and voice have in the making of their stage languages. I will also identify how these artist stage gender identity and authenticity with help from theoretical perspectives such as performativity, based on Judith Butler, and the male gaze. Results show that female pop artist reflect their femininity and sexuality in all aspect of their stage prescence, also that the aspects that I analyzed (clothes, body language, dance and voice) are well thought out and designed to suit the occasion in which they are present. However, a dilemma occurs when a female artist lead with their gender identity and a question come about if these artists can own their own sexuality or if it will always be constructed by the heterosexual males gaze. The fans of these female popsingers give a different view, they rather focus on energy, charisma and stage presence.
