Abstract

The aim of this thesis project is to deep analyse the opportunity of conceptualising, structuring and implementing a startup idea in the moving sector, with a specific focus on the Italian market. The research is conducted considering two of the main aspects when launching a new product (or service): the costumer perspective and the business side, in order to propose a product/service that could be able to create value for the entire ecosystem: customers, company, society and environment. To investigate about the opportunity of value creation, two main topics will be further analysed: Product Service System, a theoretical model that could represent the beginning framework to implement a start-up business model. This topic is strongly related to the company side of the project. The other topic is the opportunity of implementing such a model in a Circular Economy perspective, to create value for all the shareholders involved in a lunching a new product, especially caring the environmental aspects. Consequently, the purpose of this thesis project is to design redefine the traditional concept of moving turning into an innovative service that integrates both the physical moving of the goods with a structured and user-oriented digital platform, fundamental to introduce the service in a circular economy perspective. Considering the hypothetical future implementation of this model, three main goals has been identified. Value creation for customers, simplifying them the sorting and disposal. Value creation of the company, differentiating the services-portfolio, creation new streams of revenue. A further goal is about the perspective of implementing such a model, caring about reducing the environmental impact of a company operating in this sector. Moreover, the relevance of this topic is given by two different main elements: the growing corporate focus on sustainability and social responsibility. The increasingly need for customer-centred and integrated services.
