Abstract

This essay research contemporary graffiti between Gothenburg and Karlstad, by using archaeological frameworks. The purpose of this essay is to use a phenomenological approach to the graffiti art made by one painter. By following one painter you can get a view of their movement patterns, how they choose where to paint, how the art evolves over time and what and how they choose to present their art to the world. A field study was made for this essay, which use an archaeological survey guide to document the contemporary remains. The results show that the painter drew on a variety of material but preferred to paint on highway signs and underpasses. The painter returns to multiple of the underpasses to show an evolution in their style. Multiple comparisons are made to the Swedish petroglyphs and cliff paintings of the foreign times and how most of these paintings are mostly aimed towards areas of transport.
