Abstract

This work shows that efficient mowing with scythe demands a complex combination of body functions which may vary in different degrees. The goal in mowing is to lead the blade equal with the surface in a circular movement to cut rather than chop the grass. Because the building of the body is individual, every individual need to find its own comfortable movements and judge how much every movement should be used. There is although body functions which seems to be energy saving and ergonomically good in general, and these are described in detail. Further on the work judge the different known styles, where the style Whole-body-freestyle seems to demand very little energy and is ergonomically good. Both large and small body functions is described while both the whole body is in movement and the hands are doing fine motorics. The work is based mostly on own experience and dialogue with scythe mowing developers from the western world
