This project proposes a design-based exploration of children with functional diversity and their perspectives on the worlds around them in the contexts of social, environmental, ethical, and technological issues, drawing on a case study with and for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Gothenburg, Sweden. In light of the accelerating complexity of the global environment and the mounting pressures it exerts, this project focuses on children with functional diversity, exploring their perspectives and thoughts. The research proposes the engagement of designers and children with functional diversity as design partners and collaborators using a co-design methodology to productively disentangle their current and future views, hopes, and concerns. It examines the role of the designer and researcher in offering assistance and facilitating their thoughts through improvisational creative approach. Moreover, it assists and mediates inclusiveness to the broad discussion and topic on societal complexities; it stands to extend support for children’s rights-perspectives, and combats ableism.sv
