Designing a User Interface For an End-to-end Secure Messaging System

Abstract

The main goal of the report is to develop a user in- terface prototype for an easy-to-use, extendable, end-to-end secure, and privacy-aware web messag- ing application. We investigate cryptography and usability for such an application in the context of JavaScript and XMPP (Extendable Messaging and Presence Protocol), and develop a set of suit- able high-level software design suggestions allow- ing for private communication. Based on these suggestions, we proceed to develop and test the usability of a user interface prototype.
