Abstract

This study addresses the challenges Swedish female expatriates face in managerial positions within multinational corporations (MNCs) due to cultural variances and gender-specific obstacles in international environments. It investigates how these challenges impact women's experiences and explores strategies for overcoming them. The research reveals that Swedish female expatriates encounter significant hurdles stemming from cultural differences and gender biases, particularly in male-dominated industries and hierarchical work cultures. Despite efforts toward gender parity, persistent disparities hinder women's career progression. The findings underscore the importance of cultural adaptation, building support networks, and advocating for diversity and inclusion initiatives to navigate these challenges effectively. Through leveraging their cultural intelligence and resilience, Swedish female expatriates strive to enhance their effectiveness and success in international managerial roles. This study contributes to understanding gender and international business, providing empirical evidence and insights to inform organizational practices and foster a more inclusive and equitable workplace environment.
