Abstract

Description

In a world where sustainability issues are gaining increasing attention, it is crucial for companies to allocate resources and time to developing their operations sustainably. ESG, which stands for a company's efforts regarding environmental, social, and governance issues, has grown in prominence in recent years. Numerous studies have been conducted over the years on the relationship between companies' ESG performance and their financial performance, but the results are varied, and there is no clear consensus on the matter. This study examines the relationship between the ESG ratings of European IT companies and their financial performance. The method used to test this relationship is quantitative secondary study with a deductive approach. The results of the study show that there is no statistically significant difference between companies with high or low ESG ratings, except for revenue growth. It was found that companies with higher ESG ratings performed worse in terms of revenue growth compared to companies with lower ESG ratings. The results suggest that investments in ESG initiatives are costly and should be viewed as long-term rather than short-term endeavors.
