Abstract
Internets och sociala mediers framfart har fått användandet av sociala nätverk online att öka de
senaste åren. Online communities används idag av organisationers medlemmar för att
diskutera, få stöd och be om hjälp. Med framingteori som ramverk genomförde jag en tolkande
fallstudie för ta reda på hur framingprocesser ser ut bland medlemmar i online communities i
relation till en organisations ledning. Data ifrån en diskussion i ett online community på
gräsrotsnivå om en ny policy jämfördes med intervjuer med personer med ansvar för
riskhantering. Resultatet visade att ledningen kunde presentera fler beskrivningar av vilka
problem som bidrog till policyn än vad som framfördes i diskussionen online, och att
prognostiska counterframes var vanliga online, antagligen eftersom policyn presenterats som ett
fullbordat faktum.
Description
The rise of internet and social media have brought an increased use of online social networks
in the latest years. Today, organisational online communities are used by members to discuss,
ask for help and seek like minded support. Through framing theory, I have conducted a
qualitative case study to research how framing processes look amongst members of an online
community in relation to leaders in the organisation. Data from a discussion in this online
community on a grassroots level was compared to interviews with individuals responsible for
risk management. The results showed that the risk managers could present more reasons for
the new rule’s implementation than what was brought up in the online discussion, and that
prognostic counterframes were common online, probably because the rule was presented as an
already implemented fact.
