Abstract
This study examines how service-oriented businesses in Gothenburg, Sweden, are incorporating sustainable practices into their daily operations. A qualitative research design was used, which entailed conducting in-depth interviews and observations with employees working as distributors across various service delivery firms. Through their experiences, along with informal conversations, they provided more information. Using thematic analysis and interpretive methodologies to analyze the data collected, this study uncovered some key themes that illuminate the path towards sustainability in service businesses. One was the idea of an "Integrated Environmental Strategy," which highlights the power of a unified company-wide approach towards environmental responsibility. Secondly, it pointed out "Dynamic Stakeholder Synergy," which emphasizes the importance of collaboration, in which everyone from employees to customers plays a part. Finally, it highlighted "Adaptive Risk Management," which emphasizes the need for continuous adjustments to ensure long-term sustainability. This study offers insights on the power of employee engagement in implementing sustainable practices and the dynamic interactions between frontline workers and stakeholders. By examining the relationship between employee actions and organizational policies, we gain valuable insights on how service firms can become more environmentally responsible. While geographically focused on Gothenburg and employing qualitative methods, the findings offer valuable insights for similar service firms seeking to enhance their sustainability efforts.
