Delta 3D-Printer

Abstract

This thesis shows step by step the building process of a delta 3D printer. The main parts covered are the frame, stepper motors, a printing platform (heat bed), a hot end, moving sleds (carriages), extruder, power source, electronics and printing material. It also covers what kind of timing belt is the best choice and why the tightness of the belt is important. The project has been divided into three parts; modeling, controlling the printer and a mechanical section. The build phase was planned in advance but observations was made during the building of the printer that resulted in new ideas, new parts and improvements.
