In this academic essay I examine three stereotypes that I have identified in fictive movies with artists and critics. I call these three types Konstnären (The Artist), Kritikern (The Critic) and Handlaren (The Merchant), and explore their power relations to each other, the artwork and the audience. I use the theories of Pierre Bourdieu to discuss power, capital and habitus. I found the three types portrayed in certain ways: The Artist as sensitive and only caring for the artwork, the Critic to be cynical and with a sharp pen, holding a lot of power regarding the success or failure of the artist, and the Merchant as greedy and sneaky, always trying to make money of the Artists artwork with the help of a positive review from the Critic. Furthermore, in my result I found the notion of art as dangerous in various ways.en
