Abstract

Model-based software development plays a key role in modern day industries and the size and complexity of it is increasing constantly. However far too little attention has been paid to maintainability quality characteristics of model-based software. In this paper we provide the state of art analysis throughout a systematic literature review and present the existing maintainability metrics of executable models. In addition, a survey is conducted to shed light on practitioners perspective on maintainability metrics in industry. Metrics compositions and their dependencies are visualized on a diagram. The relation between the metrics and the quality characteristics they try to resolve, is also presented as a part of our result. We conclude that more research is needed on metrics of this field, because model-based software
