Abstract
Within the field of textile there are many different materials and techniques to be acquainted with. From exclusive raw materials and digitized pattern looms to waste materials and embroidery needles. I see the possibilities within the democratic aspect of textile crafting, the availability with simple tools. Because of the constant presence of textiles in everyday life the materials can be both overlooked or strongly sentimental. This project aims to investigate how the values of textile materials can be connected to personal experiences and relationships. It is an exploration of what an inspiration can be, and what one way of “thinking” through textile materials with a restless hand can look like. The method for the work is inspired by the 1960´s “anti-art”-concept Mailart, that lets art exist in a personal and sketchlike form. Letter correspondence between myself and a few close friends works as a manuscript to build a portrait of a character. The project revolves around relationships; the ones between people, and their everyday materials.
