Abstract

ERP system is the information technology that has had the biggest impact in companies’ development and way of working in today’s world. ERP system is divided in several applications with a modular software design that allow people in every department in a company to store and retrieve information accurately and in real-time. This master thesis investigates attitudes toward ERP systems among business organisations and ERP suppliers with the overall purpose of analysing to which extent a new ERP system will bring change in the business process. The purpose of this thesis is to make a survey of attitudes toward ERP systems among business organisations and ERP suppliers. I have adopted a qualitative methodology, collected and studied relevant theories in order to answer the thesis research question. A number of interviews were conducted to gather the empirical data. The conclusions drawn were that business organisations and ERP suppliers expressed positive attitudes towards new technology. This investigation has shown that both parties express benefits from using and selling new ERP systems in the market. From the organizational perspective, it is highly important to collect all data and information in one single ERP system. ERP suppliers main goal is to create business advantages for there customers. It is in there interest to be an active partner with a primary focus in implementing efficient ERP systems in order to actively satisfy the customers’ needs and requirements.
