Abstract

What unites musical practice and translation? Is there a ”musical” way of translating? In this essay, I examine the similarities between making music and translating, based on my own experiences as a professional musician and literary translator. Furthermore, I discuss what effects the state of mind referred to as ”flow” could have on translation work.
