This study aims to examine, through qualitative interviews, listeners relationship to the morning radio show Morgonpasset i P3 and its hosts in everyday life. Based on the concept of parasocial relationships this essay analyzes the building of the relationship and how its explained by the listeners. This is explored by using the theoretical concepts of working consensus, routine and ritual along with listening as a meaning-making and identity-shaping practice. The results indicate that there is a gap between the practice of listening and the defining of the relationsship towards the show. Parasocial relationships and interactions are a normalized part of media consumtion, especially in Morgonpasset i P3 as it is well rooted in the listeners morning routines. Apart from being exposed to the show on a daily basis, it functions as a tool to manage transitions in everyday life. Simultaneously, a close relationship to the hosts is viewed abnormal and is seen as a substitute for real life relations.
