Abstract

The essay is about the housekeeping society's county gardeners and how they have influenced the fruit growing in Södermanland County between 1891 - 1931. Through an archive study in Södermanland's housekeeping society yearbooks, I have tried to see how the housekeeping society and the county gardeners worked to get the public more interested in fruit growing, and what has affected the interest from year to year. I have also calculated how many fruit trees that the county gardeners planted during the current period from 1891 to 1931. Through literature I try to anchor and explain what is in the yearbooks with what happened in society at that time; and gain a greater insight into the work of the county gardeners and the housekeeping society and its importance for fruit growing.
