Abstract
The long history and writing of François Cheng can certainly be considered as a representation of translingual writing. Translingual writing offers many independent criteria. The subject of this study is to discuss the criteria that appear in the writing of François Cheng. To determine the influence between the language and culture of his Chinese origins and the new language and culture that he found in France; we have based our analysis on the different criteria appearing in historical studies of translingual writing, Kellman (2000); (2015); (2019a); (2019b) et Duhan (2021) among others. These criteria have then supported the analysis of the work of François Cheng, his novels, his poems, his calligraphic work and his essays. It has led us to believe that François Cheng is one of the true translingual authors, whose mastering of the different forms of writing in a translingual manner is integrated with humility into his conception of the French literature and philosophy.
