| The present study examined the narrative ability and the verbal working memory in 56 internationally adopted children aged 6-9 years. The study consisted of two participant groups, one where the participants had unilateral cleft lip and palate and one group without cleft lip and palate. The study used audio recordings where the participants were tested with the Busstory test and Digit span from the CELF-4. No statistically significant group differences were found for the results of the two tests. Weak correlations were found between the participants test scores on the Bus-story test and Digit span and also between the age at adoption and the participants test scores on both tests. Compared to test standards for their age, the participants in the present study had lower test scores on both tests. This is valuable findings that contribute to the research about internationally adopted children with and without cleft lip and palate. | sv | |
| I föreliggande studie undersöktes den narrativa förmågan och det verbala arbetsminnet hos 56 internationellt adopterade barn i åldrarna 6-9 år. I studien fanns två deltagargrupper; en grupp med unilateral läpp-käk-gomspalt och en grupp utan läpp-käk-gomspalt. Materialet bestod av ljudinspelningar där deltagarna testades med Buss-sagan och Sifferrepetition ur CELF-4. Sammantaget visade studien inga statistiskt signifikanta skillnader mellan de två grupperna avseende resultaten på de två testerna. Mellan resultaten på Buss-sagan och Sifferrepetition fanns svaga samband likaså mellan adoptionsålder och resultaten på Buss-sagan och Sifferrepetition. Deltagarna i föreliggande studie presterade, på båda testerna, lägre jämfört med genomsnittet för barn i deras ålder. Studiens resultat kan bidra till en ökad kunskap kring internationellt adopterade barn med och utan läpp-käk-gomspalt. | sv | |
