MIGRATION OCH SÄKERHETISERING En WPR-analys om hur Kommissionen och Rådet skiljer sig i sin säkerhetisering av migrationskrisen 2015

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate how the European Commission and the Council of the European Union differ in their securitization of the migration crisis in 2015. Previous research shows that both the Commission and the Council have securitized the migration crisis in 2015. The previous research consists of the securitization of migration and the responsibilities of the Commission and the Council in migration policy. The theory part presents the securitization theory, with the aim of knowing which aspects of migration policy should be investigated. The method used in the study is Bacchi's discourse analysis method "What's the problem represented to be?". Three of her six analytical questions are used as research questions in the study, as well as a comparative question between the Commission's and the Council's securitization. The material consists of material from the official websites of the Commission and the Council. The results and analysis show that the Commission and the Council have differences in their securitization of the migration inflow in 2015. However, the Council generally focuses more on the member states while the Commission generally focuses more on the EU.
