The pianistic spectrum

Effects of applying mental approaches and musical dimensions from operatic or symphonic piano reductions to the interpretation of solistic piano music

Abstract
This independent project investigates the musical and technical effects of applying the orchestral dimensions necessary for the interpretation of symphonic or operatic orchestral reductions to the study and interpretation processes of solo piano music. l study the orchestral reduction of the first act from G. Puccini’s opera La Bohème as well as the second movement from L. van Beethoven’s piano sonata nr. 17, op.31 no.2 (Tempest sonata). During the study of these works I intend to apply a selection of orchestral aspects and mindsets from the study process of La Bohème to the study of the sonata movement.
