Från förändring tillbaka till tradition: En studie om jämställdhet och stereotypa könsroller inom en församling i Svenska kyrkan
Abstract
The diocese of Gothenburg has been labeled conservative on the question of gender equality. Therefore, this study aims to examine gender equality among employees in a Swedish church within the diocese of Gothenburg, and how this church and their employees work with this question in 2024. The study focuses on stereotypical gender roles and how they are reproduced in this church. The question on LGBTQ+ people in the church of Sweden is also touched upon since it is closely related to gender equality and stereotypical gender roles. The study argues that men and women in this specific church have a different way of approaching and talking about gender equality. To discuss these topics the gender role theory is applied to get an understanding on how different acts are connected to stereotypical gender roles. Gender dichotomy is also utilized to show ways in which jobs within the church are either male or women dominated. The method used first and foremost was participant observation to get a holistic view on the church and their employees. The study was later completed with individual structured interviews. The study is written in Swedish.
