Executives perception of corporate culture in domestic and cross-border Merger and Acquisition deals

Abstract
This report investigates the significance of corporate and national culture in the context of mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Through an extensive review of literature and interviews with executives, the study focuses on the complex field regarding culture around M&A deals. Findings reveal that cultural alignment is an important part for achieving desired synergies in transactions. Corporate governance, management styles, and payment structure are identified as key factors influenced by culture. The report underscores the need for tailored integration strategies, effective leadership, and continuous monitoring of cultural integration. It also emphasizes the importance of valuing cultural diversity for innovation and competitive advantage. The study concludes with recommendations for future research on cultural impacts in M&A and for future research on the relationship between national och corporate culture.
