Operationsteamets upplevelser av teamarbete vid robot-assisterad kirurg
The surgical team’s experiences of teamwork in robot-assisted surgery.
Abstract

Other description
Background: Robot-assisted surgery has become increasingly popular and effective as an alternative
technique to traditional open surgery. This approach, which uses an advanced system to perform
surgical procedures, has evolved over time and offers several advantages such as increased precision
and control, as well as a reduced risk of complications. Despite the advancements, surgical teams face
challenges in adapting to the new technology and the need to develop strategies to achieve optimal
results. Effective communication and collaboration within the surgical team are crucial to ensuring
patient safety and the success of the operation. Communication challenges and the need for
specialized training for the surgical team are emphasized as important aspects of managing the new
technology. Putting the patient's needs at the forefront and ensuring communication and information
is fundamental to maintaining a high level of care quality and patient safety.
Aim: The aim of the study was to examine surgical teams’ experiences of teamwork in robot-assisted
surgery.
Method: A structured literature review was applied in this study with an integrated methodology.
The quantitative data were converted to a narrative format and integrated with the qualitative data.
Results: The results were presented in two main categories: Optimization of the team's performance
in robot-assisted surgery, and factors perceived as hindering successful teamwork in robot-assisted
surgery. The results showed a variation in the surgical teams' experiences within robot-assisted
surgery. These experiences enrich one's knowledge of teamwork and the conditions for patient safety
within robot-assisted surgery.
Conclusion: The development of robot-assisted surgery has brought various challenges among
surgical team members such as communication challenges, workload, isolation of team members, and
noise disturbances. To adapt to these challenges, the entire surgical team needs to develop new
working methods. Through strategies such as effective communication, education and training, and
measures to minimize disturbances, good teamwork can promote safe care.
