| dc.description | Background: Intimate partner violence is a national and global problem. Violence against women is rife and the number of unreported cases is estimated to be very large. There are different types of violence and the consequences are severe both for the victim and society. In order for the healthcare sector to be able to provide the right help and support, it is important that exposure to violence is detected as early as possible. Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate which factors influence nurses on surgical wards to ask women about intimate partner violence. Method: Qualitative survey study with closed and open questions. The open questions were analyzed with an inductive approach
Results: 41 nurses participated in the study (59%). Of these, 26 felt safe asking the question about violence while 13 of 41 nurses had the knowledge how to proceed if they received “yes” as an answer. The analysis of the questions in the survey was divided into three main categories; organizational aspects that influence whether the question is asked, emotional aspects that influence whether the question is asked and the importance of the care relationship. The nurses described a lack of knowledge, lack of routine and a great need for training and support. Furthermore, it emerged that private spaces were missing and that time pressure had an effect. The nurses had a strong desire to help these women, but also mentioned a feeling of unease. It was important to have trust and that the nurse felt safe asking the question about violence. Conclusion: Nurses need support and resources from the organization to detect and prevent men´s violence against women. Despite the obstacles that exist, nurses experience a strong desire to ask the question about intimate partner violence. | en |
| dc.description.abstract | Bakgrund: Våld i nära relation är ett nationellt och globalt problem. Våldet, framför allt mot kvinnor är utbrett och mörkertalet tros vara mycket stort. Det finns olika typer av våld och dess konsekvenser är stora för såväl den våldsutsatta som samhället. För att sjukvården ska kunna erbjuda rätt hjälp och stöd är det viktigt att våldsutsatthet upptäcks så tidigt som möjligt. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att undersöka vilka faktorer som påverkar sjuksköterskor på kirurgisk slutenvårdsavdelning att fråga kvinnor om våld i nära relation.
Metod: En kvalitativ enkätstudie med slutna och öppna frågor där de öppna frågorna analyserades med en induktiv ansats.
Resultat: 41 sjuksköterskor deltog i studien (59%). Av dessa kände sig 26 trygga med att ställa frågan om våld i nära relation medan 13 av 41 sjuksköterskor hade kunskap om hur de skulle gå tillväga vid ett jakande svar på frågan om våldsutsatthet. Analysen av de öppna frågorna i enkäten har indelats i tre huvudkategorier; organisatoriska aspekter som påverkar om frågan ställs, emotionella aspekter som påverkar om frågan ställs samt vårdrelationens betydelse. Resultatet visar att sjuksköterskor påverkas av såväl organisatoriska aspekter i form av brist på kunskap och rutiner, brist på avskilda platser att ställa frågan och tidsbrist som emotionella aspekter i form av känsla av olust och rädsla samt vilja att hjälpa. Det framkommer även att relationen mellan sjuksköterska och patient, där ömsesidig tillit och förtroende står i centrum, är viktig för att sjuksköterskorna ska känna sig trygga med att ställa frågan om våld i nära relation. Slutsats: Sjuksköterskor upplever både organisatoriska och emotionella hinder till att ställa frågan om våld i nära relation till kvinnor. Trots detta upplever sjuksköterskorna en vilja att ställa frågan och hjälpa kvinnor som lever i våldsutsatthet. Dock behövs stöd och resurser från verksamheten för att upptäcka och förebygga mäns våld mot kvinnor. | en |
