ÅTERINTEGRERING PÅ ARBETSMARKNADEN EFTER ETT FÄNGELSESTRAFF - utifrån arbetsgivarrepresentanters- och före detta kriminellas perspektiv
Abstract
Aim and problem statements: The aim was to examine ex-criminals' reintegration into the
working market from the perspective of both the employer and the ex-criminal. To achieve the
aim of the study two questions were raised: (1) How do employer representatives reason about
the reintegration of criminals into the labor market? (2) What obstacles do ex-criminals
experience when reintegrating into the labor market? The respondents' different experiences of
this topic were presented in this study. Background: The current support that are available to
prepare the inmates for release were presented in the background. Examples of support are the
variety of chores available at the institution. KRIS and KRAMI are two organizations who
support ex-criminals after being released, their way of working was also described. Previous
research has mainly focused on the cause of relapse to crimes/criminal life/criminality and
which inputs that are necessary in order to reduce relapse. Studies have shown that work is an
important factor to reintegration. The theories that were chosen for the study were KASAM and
the labelling theory. Method and material: The methods that were used to collect data were
interviews. A text analysis of the transcribed interviews was completed. A thematic analysis was
the analytic method used for the study. To achieve ethical correction an ethical consideration
was presented as well as critical reflection on the approach of the study. Result: In the result the
relevant findings from the collected material was presented. It showed that the employer label
the ex-criminal based on their past and that the ex-criminal internalizes the label. Further the
result showed that work is an important factor to feel involved in society. The results also shows
that ex-criminals experience obstacles with reintegration into the labor market, while employers
say that everyone is on the same terms, which ex-criminals are not based on the study results.
