Visionen om litet varv som ska locka hela världen. En studie om Masthuggskajen och dess påverkan på den regionala utvecklingen i Göteborg

Abstract
The theory regional innovation system (RIS) has become popular among politicians and academics. It is now a recognized strategy for regional development. The literature agrees that to achieve innovation at a regional level, academia and companies in an area are required. The use of RIS is well-proven in many countries around the world and the method has been applied to the Gothenburg region but in a limited format. Therefore, this document aims to apply RIS in Gothenburg. The area was chosen to be investigated by one of the new transforming areas in Gothenburg called Masthuggskajen. The thesis aims to understand how Masthuggskajen will contribute to strengthening the RIS in Gothenburg. Thus, four semi-structured interviews have been conducted and material has been collected from a total of 5 informants. The result showed that Masthuggskajen is involved and contributes to and strengthens the existing RIS. This is shown in part by the fact that the district will attract creative industries and simplify collaboration between academia and business.
