Ideellt ledarskap - en kvalitativ studie angående hur kontext och efterföljare påverkar ledarskapsstilen hos ideella ledare inom Chalmers Tekniska Högskola
Abstract

Other description
All organizations require some form of leadership. This is true for both profit-driven orga nizations as well as non-profit organizations. However, since the context is entirely different for non-profit organizations, and they are also fully voluntary, it is interesting to study these organizations to draw knowledge from this area. The method to gather data for this thesis is interviews performed with respondents of previously dedicated students which has been a part of non-profit organizations at Chalmers University of Technology.
Through the data collected and the analysis performed it was concluded that the context, the followers as well as the leader work in conjunction which impact one another, as well with the inclusion of the motivations of the followers and the leader. Furthermore, it is shown that internal motivation is a key ingredient within the non-profit organizations, as well as
the social connections between the members. These two factors create a lower demand for a strong leadership style, with more independence of the followers. With this, we conclude that profit-driven organizations can try to re-create environments of high social well-being and highly internally motivated individuals, rather than externally driven individuals, to create more productive and effective organizations.
