Description: The aim of the study was to examine the experiences of wordfinding difficulties in 20 participants with moderate and mild-moderate aphasia after stroke. Semi-structured interviews were transcribed and analysed with content analysis according to Graneheim and Lundman (2004). The analysis resulted in five categories: Changes in word-finding, Feelings towards word-finding difficulties, Affecting factors, The conversation partner’s importance in word-finding and When the words don’t come. The results revealed that the participants experienced difficulties in finding words compared to before their stroke. The experience of frustration, the desire to return to how it was before and the longing to improve were mentioned. The result showed that various factors affected the ability to find words such as stress, tiredness and noise. There was also a variation in how the communication partner could affect word-finding. The participants handle the word-finding difficulties in different ways, for instance through gestures. The study has contributed with increased knowledge about how individuals experiences their word-finding difficulties.
