Abstract: Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE), an important central nervous system infection in Europe and Asia, is caused by the TBE virus (TBEV), which is mainly transmitted to humans through tick bites. This thesis studied data from 201 of the 373 patients diagnosed in Region Västra Götaland between 1997 and 2017. The purpose was to investigate the burden of disease following TBEV infection.
