Description: Background: Many hearing aid users, despite frequent use of their hearing aids, may still ex-perience communications problems. Remaining communications problems can lead to negative effects on the hearing aid user´s social interaction and quality of life, indicating that there is need for additional interventions. An additional extended aural rehabilitation could be a meas-ure to increase the knowledge about hearing, hearing aids and communication strategies. Such extended rehabilitation efforts are practiced today in a limited form in Hörselverksamheten, re-gion of Västra Götaland. Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of an online aural rehabilitation pro-gram in a clinical perspective in Hörselverksamheten, region of Västra Götaland. Method and materials: The study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial (RCT) dur-ing the period of 2018/2019. The participants, who were hearing aid users, where randomized into an intervention group and a control group. The intervention group was given access to an online rehabilitation program while the control group was placed on a waiting list. Results: The study showed an improvement for the intervention group in terms of both per-ceived activity and participation restriction that a hearing impairment entails and improved val-ues regarding the use of communication strategies, compared to the control group.
