PULSE (Gothenburg) is a commissioned one night, one hour live performance, involving over 30 local collaborators, which occurred from and around the Masthuggskyrkan overlook, Gothenburg, Sweden. Morse Code light signals were sent out from the overlook that were transmissions of the collaborators everyday desires, needs, confusions, disappointments and longings for change, communication and hope. The text that was morsed out was gathered through the PULSE (Gothenburg) Workshop which happened over two days leading up to the performance. The text was crafted by Coble into a protest poem of everyday resistance that was first morsed by Coble and then repeated/echoed out into Gothenburg by the performance collaborators. During the workshop current responses were discussed to the Swedish election results and as well as other political urgencies felt by us living in and around Gothenburg. Coble also talk about the concept of PULSE (Gothenburg) as a collaborative gesture of solidarity merging activist and nautical language to amplify a collective call for action. This work was commissioned for the exhitbion "Ingen rök utan eld. Shout Fire!" at the Röda Sten Konsthall with works also by fantastic artists Annika Lundgren, Felipe Mujica, Joar Nango and Carla Zaccagnini, curated by Mariangela Méndez Prencke. "Including commissioned projects in combination with already existing works, the exhibition brings forward current concerns on cultural autonomy, democracy, activism, and civil courage. Works that invoke the power of the word, that encourage conversations and exchange; actions that engage the body, the voice, techniques that gather collective knowledge, and questions that need to be asked anew.”
