Exploring Critiques of Cosmopolitanism
Abstract
Critiques of cosmopolitanism and its derivatives are explored along the lines of philosophy of politics to find several points of contention with the ideology itself. Primarily it is alleged that cosmopolitanism is a failed marriage between unfeasible philosophy and incoherent politics, the failed synthesis of which leads to a state of apathetic nihilism. Cosmopolitanism is valuated along specific touchpoint of love, religion, morality, ethics and gender. To complete the analysis, an alternative explanation to nihilism is given in the form of loss of a special case of knowledge, metis.
