This study discusses possibilities to create meadows in urban areas by converting lawn into meadows. The thesis is based on literature studies and interviews with three landscape professionals from local and regional authorities. The informants work with maintenance of open grass areas in the western part of Sweden. Effects of the conversions from lawn to meadow from a landscape management perspective is studied. An overall question is used; in which way can urban grass spaces gain an extra value in the process of converting lawn to meadow. Since the Swedish ratification 2011 of the European Landscape Convention has urban landscapes have the same status as rural landscapes from a landscape management position. By connecting green space maintenance ideals; esthetic, economic, ecological and social ideals with cultural ideals management of green urban space may develop and flourish.sv
