This paper illustrates how the idea of a national information infrastructure travels through the world. Once the idea has traveled from the United States to Europe and to Sweden it has been translated and localized into a Stockholm context. Based on interviews with city managers, observations at a panel debate, and on searches on the Internet, the study reconstructs the netting of the information infrastructure in Stockholm (IT net).swe
