The purpose of the present study was to translate Western Aphasia Battery – Revised (WAB-R) to Swedish and test the translation on a group of nonlanguage- impaired individuals. The purpose was also to establish equivalence between WAB-R and its Swedish translation and to examine a possible correlation between test results and the background factors sex, age, educational length and first language. 67 subjects participated in the study. The results showed that female sex, long education (≥12 yrs) and being a native speaker of Swedish had significant positive association to a higher test result. However, since the results also showed a clear ceiling-effect, with a mean of 98,3 (±1,6) and a median of 98.8 out of 100 points for the entire group any significant results must be interpreted with caution. To establish equivalence certain adjustments to the scoring system of the test are suggested.sv
