GADHDeroben - Utforskande av möblers påverkan på människan med adhd
Abstract
GADHDeroben is a design project that aims to create a more inclusive and accepting wardrobe tailored to the needs of individuals with ADHD. Rooted in inclusive design, the project explores how furniture can support real behaviors instead of correcting them, especially habits often seen as weaknesses, such as disorganization. A survey of 156 participants revealed key struggles with traditional wardrobes, including deep storage, lack of visibility, and difficulty maintaining order. These insights guided the design towards improved visibility, structure, and accessibility. The concept “in sight, in mind” became central. Visually, the project was led by my personal experiense with having ADHD, allowing dopamine-driven impulses to shape the form language. Influences included from the 1970s aesthetics, Småland carpentry, playfulness and dopamine directed. Materials like oak, birch, furu, aluminium and calming green textiles were chosen for both sensory and emotional support. The final wardrobe includes open storage with curtains, space for semi-used clothes,
flexible hanging systems, and a built-in seat. While designed with ADHD in focus, it offers useful solutions for a broader audience.
