Hybridarbetets påverkan på chefers ledarskap. En kvalitativ studie om hybridarbetets effekter på chefers ledarskap ur ett positionsbaserat ledarskapsperspektiv
Sammanfattning
At the beginning of 2022, the laws regarding Covid-19 and distance work came to an end and things started to go back to normal again. With a few years of hindsight we can conclude that many workspaces still have not gone back to normal yet. Instead, organizations have integrated the remote work model used during the pandemic to the traditional work model defined by physical presence. The purpose of this study has been to investigate what impact the hybrid work model has had on the leadership that managers practice, viewed from a perspective of leadership as something position-based.
The study is of a qualitative nature and the empirical data was collected by semi-structured interviews with fifteen respondents from five different organizations. The conclusion is that hybrid work both challenges and develops the position-based leadership. Hybrid work has changed the leadership of managers, but perhaps the change hasn’t been as extensive as we originally thought. The study found that it is the same abilities and characteristics that are of significance for a successful leadership in both a hybrid and traditional work environment. Further, the study indicates that soft skills are the leadership qualities that are most important to prioritize for a well-functioning leadership in a hybrid work environment.
