Exploring the Influence of Leaders' Gender on Communication Styles and Work Environment Dynamics: A Study in the Swedish Companies
Abstract
The business world is constantly changing, and so are the companies within it. This makes it hard to understand what makes a good leader entirely. This thesis examines how gender and leadership interact in Swedish companies to determine how these factors contribute to communication and organizational culture. It examines how gender influences leadership styles and their effects on workplace environments using qualitative methodology. Leadership, especially in contexts that promote gender equality and flat hierarchies like Sweden, presents a unique opportunity to study the broader implications of diverse leadership dynamics. This study employed the study of gender and organizational behavior to address effective leadership in contemporary corporations. The research sheds light on the differences and similarities between female and male leaders' approaches, including communication and interaction with the team. Therefore, interviews were conducted with the leaders/managers in their organizations. Moreover, this study points out the importance of diversity in developing inclusive and innovative workplace cultures to assist a better working environment. Consequently, it offers directions for how organizations can employ the potential of diverse leadership to navigate the complexities of the contemporary business landscape. Furthermore, the research could be a valuable foundation for future investigations.
