Testing Different Practice Methods for the Preparation of Violin Orchestral Excerpts

Abstract
This thesis explores three different practice methods that musicians can use to prepare orchestral excerpts for auditions, as well as what preparation strategies should be implemented when learning new excerpts. In this case, a practice method can refer to simply how time is managed during practice sessions or also contain specific exercises to implement during the practice itself. Each method is compared on various matters, such as how it works with different preparation times, feeling while practicing and overall performance. Through mock auditions, real auditions, recordings and reflections, I examine how these methods influence mindset and habits. This research provides practical insights for musicians, through a phenomenological approach. It also emphasizes the importance of adjusting practice methods, especially based on the demands of the auditions and the time available for their preparation.
