Prisutveckling och krisstrategier inom livsmedelsbranschen i Sverige 2022-2023 - En analys av marknadstrender och konkurrenssituationen
Abstract
This study aims to investigate the underlying factors driving the recent price increases in the
food industry and their impact on the three parts of the food industry supply chain; primary
production, manufacturing, and retail. Additionally, it seeks to identify strategies used by the
food industry to address recent price increases and explore industry stakeholders' perspectives
on the coming years' price trends. To formulate the research problem, a comprehensive
literature review was conducted, encompassing relevant studies related to the investigated
issue. Finally, the factors identified as contributing to the increased food prices include the
lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, and Sweden's domestic
monetary and energy policies. Emerging strategies such as cost leadership and focus were
identified across all three sectors: primary production, the food industry, and grocery retail.
These sectors have implemented operational streamlining, cost-minimization projects, and
redirected their focus towards offering value-for-money products. Respondents anticipate
price stabilization and lower growth in the future of the food industry.
