The goal with this project was to design a biblical garden for a Christian community in Östervåla, Uppsala county. They wanted a theological garden that would be beneficial for the biodiversity as well as the community spirit and their activities. Apart from the members of the community, the garden is also visited by a preschool and residents at a geriatric care center. The research was therefore mainly concentrated on three different aspects: a childfriendly garden, a health promoting garden and a biblical garden. In an effort to find a way to express biblical themes through plants, color psychology was also studied. The result from these studies was then presented to Östervåla community in a prospectus which explained the idea for the design in texts and illustrations, a landscape plan and plant-lists. Comparing the result with the wishes presented in the introduction shows that all requests were met. The checklist constructed in order to draw these conclusions could also be used to design a similar garden elsewhere. However, further research is desirable in order to conclude how this kind of natural play area can be constructed so that it is accessible for children with disabilities.en
