Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide knowledge about the conditions for the implementation of the Convention of the Rights of the Child and a child-rights-perspective at a municipal level. The main question considered is where initiative to take account for children takes, to understand why a children-rights-perspective is considered in some cases, but not in others. The chosen cases all con- cern urban planning since it is not a typical child-and youth issue. The research method applied is interviews with officials who have an expertise in the implementation process and can bring new knowledge to the matter. The results show that officials have a major impact on the implementation process and that cooperation is important for a successful outcome.
